This can be done in one of two ways, on site conference or in chambers conference.
On Site:
An on site conference can be used when counsel is required on your premises, is needed to represent your interests or is necessary to the understanding of a situation. Barristers will usually provide a written summary of points discussed and outcome of the meeting; this is not a written opinion and its understanding is usually subject to having been a party at the conference

In Chambers:
An in chambers conference is held at the barristers offices which are known as chambers. The purpose of an in chambers conference is to allow you to seek the opinion of counsel if there is little or no supporting documentation.
Seeking legal advice without providing documentation can be difficult as the legal advisor has little to go on to advise you and in most cases will be unwilling to advise you on that basis. With an in chambers conference however you can outline the situation to counsel and allow them to ask questions about the matter, allowing them to gather the information they would usually obtain through the reading of documents. You can also then elect to have a written opinion after so that you have a permanent record of what was discussed and the barristers advice and conclusions.
Note:
There is not a limit as such as to how many people are present for conference however to ensure that the discussion and advice do not meander we would recommend taking no more than the people necessary to discuss the situation.
